I am so excited to be presenting a webinar for Oregon Women in Higher Education focused on the idea of assertive communication and being able to talk about our worth and value with confidence. Here is the description to the webinar:
Assertive communication is one of the top tools necessary to continue to advance in your career. It is also one of the biggest struggles we face professionally. Implicit biases, stereotypes, and cultural expectations have forced many of us into roles of passive and avoidant communication styles, especially those of us who identify as womxn, BIPOC, and/or gender non-binary. This is increasingly more present as we look to the impact of our intersecting identities including body size and age.
Becoming a more assertive communicator in the workplace will allow you to be direct and reflect confidence, set boundaries and show a willingness to grow. Not to mention, these moments impact salary negotiations and promotion opportunities. In this session, we will focus specifically on the ways to use assertive communication in both giving and receiving feedback, setting boundaries and in asking and advocating for the opportunities that will help you move forward in your career.
