What are you grateful for?
It is so easy to get lost in the chaos of our lives, the day or even a moment.
We can be swept into a whirlwind of distress and angst before we can slow down enough to catch our breath. This chaos is followed by waves of complaining, isolation, distress and more and can take hours, days and even years to go away. How come?
Everything in our brain works on a feedback loop.
The more anxious we feel, the more distress we face. The more distress we face, the more anxious we feel.
It is never ending. UNTIL, you learn to spin the cogs a different way. Instead of focusing on a problem-saturated narrative, write a narrative filled with gratitude, opportunity and growth. How can you do this? By taking time every day to say one thing you are grateful for. That's it. Just one. Just take the time to notice something that fills your cup rather than sucks your energy.
The more moments of joy, connection, gratitude and celebration we can collect, the greater momentum we can build to shift our brain's feedback loops to a more positive and balanced cycle.
Plus, what's the worst that would happen if you spend 10 seconds every day trying something like this? If it did nothing else but change you perspective for a moment, wouldn't that be enough?
